Karachi: Senior Deputy Convener of United National Movement of Pakistan Dr. Farooq Sattar has claimed that the population of Karachi is more than 40 million.
While holding a press conference with the Coordination Committee in Bahadurabad, Farooq Sattar said that it is a pity that all parties are active in politics and elections, but no political party is active in the census. There may be nefarious motives behind.
Farooq Sattar said that they are expressing serious concerns and concerns prematurely that neither we nor the people will accept wrong results. He can be given his right, Karachi will not be benefited by running a mayoral race and calling a one-day strike will not control the fire of inflation in the country.
Farooq Sattar said that apart from MQM Pakistan, no political party is running a campaign to guide the people in the census. The 2017 Bogus and Jharlo census was the worst abuse of Karachi, after which a new 17th census has been prematurely conducted on strong protests and strong demands of MQM Pakistan.
The MQM leader further said that it should have happened that the political parties claiming loyalty from Karachi should have come into action because it is impossible to give Karachi its right without an accurate census, but neither Jamaat-e-Islami nor PTI nor The PML-N was found to be serious in this matter while the People’s Party has nothing to do with any public issue.
Dr. Farooq Sattar said that efforts are still being made to prove the population of 1.5 to 2 crore by messing up 16,000 blocks under a negative conspiracy, that is, at least one crore is being beaten. Don’t make a mess, all the blocks should be counted correctly, there may be nefarious motives behind undercounting the population in 16 thousand blocks of Karachi.
Farooq Sattar said that we have met the relevant government officers, Chief Census Commissioner, government ministers and especially the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif and conveyed our concerns. Every earning person living in Karachi who belongs to any linguistic and religious unit should be counted. Every member of the family should have access to all the facilities which are your basic right.
Complaints are coming from the office of District East that the enumerators are being told not to enumerate children below 5 years of age and also that the enumeration itself has been delayed by two days due to system malfunction, which is a matter of deep concern. Concerned authorities should take note that public should have the option to check their final result of census itself. We demand that all data be uploaded on websites.
Farooq Sattar said that various corps commanders, elites of political parties, big institutions have coded the population of Karachi more than three crores in different periods, when the population of Karachi is recognized at the national level, it was ensured. In order for the population of Karachi to be recorded correctly in the census, we appeal to all political parties to play their role in the census because only with a joint strategy can Karachi be given its right.
