Iran ordered two German diplomats to leave the country.

According to the foreign news agency ‘AFP’, the said decision by Iran came at a time when Berlin expelled diplomats from Tehran over the issue of death penalty for dual citizenship in recent weeks.

Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Nasir Kanani said the two diplomats were ordered to be expelled from the country in response to the German government’s interference in Iran’s internal and judicial affairs.

Germany announced last week that it was expelling two Iranian diplomats in response to the death sentence of Jamshed Sharmahid, a dual citizen who is also a US citizen.

Chancellor Olaf Schulz said at the time that “the Iranian government is fighting its own people in every possible way and has no respect for human rights.” In addition, Germany criticized Iran’s response.

“The expulsion of the German diplomats is arbitrary and unjustified, they have done nothing wrong,” said a Foreign Ministry spokesman in Berlin. It should be noted that Iran has accused 67-year-old Sharmhid of being responsible for the 2008 bombing of a mosque in the southern city of Shiraz that killed 14 people and injured 300.
