Minsk: A Russian military plane has crashed near an airbase in the capital of Belarus.
According to the World News Agency, the Russian military aircraft A-50 on surveillance in Belarus was targeted by a drone at the Machulishchi Air Base. An anti-government militant organization claimed responsibility for the drone attack.
The attack on the Russian surveillance plane comes as the rapprochement between Russia and Belarus grows and Russia sends its planes from an air base in Belarus to attack Ukraine.
Alexander Azarov, the leader of BYPOL, an organization of former Belarusian law enforcement officers, claimed responsibility for the attack speaking on the Telegram messaging app and a Polish news channel.
The militant organization BYPOL opposes the government of Belarus and provides all kinds of support to the opposition parties, after which the government declared the organization BYPOL as a terrorist organization.
Similarly, Frank Vyakurka, a close adviser of the opposition leader Svetlana Tskhanovskaya, has also confirmed in his tweet a successful special operation by the organization BYPOL to fly a rare Russian plane.
A close adviser to opposition leader Svetlana Tskhanovskaya called the attack on the Russian plane the biggest success since the start of 2022, but officials in Russia and Belarus have not denied or confirmed the attack.
