Lahore: The situation turned tense after a clash between protesting students and security staff at Punjab University.

According to Express News, the student organization protested outside the Vice Chancellor’s office and set fire to tyres, on which the security staff tried to disperse them and a clash ensued.

After the clash, the angry students rioted after which a heavy police force was called.

Later, the police resorted to heavy lathi charge to disperse the protesting students and dispersed them in front of the VC office. Meanwhile, protestors and police personnel also threw burning tires at each other.

Later, SP Iqbal Town reached the university with more personnel and after assessing the situation, deployed a heavy police force. According to the police officials, legal action will be taken against the angry workers of the organization that attacked the officials.
