Karachi: The Sindh High Court has ordered the Cantonment Board, DHA and KMC to submit details regarding the efficiency of the treatment plant while seeking a response to the petition against the discharge of crude oil and industrial waste into the sea.
According to the report, a two-member bench headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi heard the petition against the discharge of crude oil and industrial waste into the sea.
The petitioner’s lawyer, Jafar Raza Advocate, stated that the sea is being polluted due to the discharge of industrial waste and sewage. Due to the negligence of the administration, marine life is being damaged to an alarming extent.
Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi remarked that God has given such a beautiful beach to protect it. Destroying such good beaches, all the garbage and filth is going into the sea.
Counsel for Sepa submitted that a treatment plant has been installed which has the capacity to treat 2 million gallons.
Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi directed the Environmental Protection Agency to review and submit a report on the waste, sewage and waste going into the sea.
The court also sought responses from the Cantonment Board, DHA and KMC. The court also ordered to submit the details regarding the efficiency of the treatment plant.
