Iran’s deputy health minister says that some people are attacking school-going girls in the city of Qomb with poisonous gas to prevent them from studying.

According to Iran’s official news agency, there have been several incidents of poisonous gas attacks on schoolgirls in Qomb, in which some of the girls were treated in the hospital.

On Sunday, Deputy Health Minister Younis Panahi confirmed that the gas attacks were being carried out deliberately.

He said that after reports of poisonous gas attacks on several female students in schools in Qomba, it has been learned that some people want to close girls’ schools.

The Iranian minister did not give further details about the gas attacks, and no arrests have been made yet.

On February 14, parents of female students affected by poisonous gas staged a protest outside the governor’s house in Qomba, demanding an answer from the authorities.

The next day, government spokesman Ali Bahaduri Jahrumi said that intelligence and the Ministry of Education were trying to find out the cause of the gas attacks.

Last week, Prosecutor General Mohammad Jafar Montazeri ordered a judicial inquiry into these incidents.

It should be noted that three days ago, Iranian female journalist Masih Alinejad tweeted that the effects of poison can be seen by smelling a single smell in different cities of the country, especially in Qomb.
