Belgium has frozen more than 58 billion euros in Russian assets after the European Union imposed economic sanctions.
The Federal Minister of Finance of Belgium, Vincent van Petitgum, expressed his satisfaction with the performance of his institution in this regard and said that during this period, the Customs Department also practically closed more than 91 thousand transactions and 7925 containers going to Russia and Belarus. Reopened and checked.
He added that 1789 Russian companies or individuals included in the European blacklist have been affected as a result of Belgium’s actions.
All these statistics have been released by the Ministry of Finance on the one year anniversary of the Russian aggression on Ukraine.
It should be noted that since the start of the Russian war in Ukraine, the assets worth 58 billion euros seized by the Belgian Ministry of Finance are the highest in terms of their value compared to any member country of the European Union.
It should also be noted that this was the 10th round of sanctions issued by the European Commission, which was agreed by 27 member states on Friday night.
Belgium implemented these sanctions hard and fast, not only freezing assets worth 58 billion, but also blocking financial transactions worth 191 billion euros.
