Raipur: An army vehicle has been targeted in one area of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh and a police vehicle in another area, in which at least two officers have been killed and many injured, while the death toll is expected to increase.
Chhattisgarh, the bastion of independence from India, is witnessing an increase in the activities of Naxal militants and the Modi government’s grip continues to weaken.
According to Indian media, Indian army and police vehicles have been targeted in two different incidents in the state of Chhattisgarh. Naxal militants attacked an Indian army vehicle in Kankar district.
The attack was so sudden that the Indian soldiers were overwhelmed and did not get a chance to recover. An Indian Army officer was killed in the attack while 4 others were injured.
The deceased officer has been identified as 28-year-old Moti Ram Inchla. The Naxal fighters also took the weapons and vehicles of the Indian Army with them.
Similarly, in another area of Chhattisgarh, Narayanpur, an Indian police vehicle was blown up in a landmine explosion, as a result of which one officer was killed and two were seriously injured.
The death toll is expected to rise due to the critical condition of 3 of those killed in the two attacks.
Yesterday too, three policemen were killed in an encounter with Naxal militants in Sukma district, while two policemen were killed in an attack by freedom fighters on February 20.
