In this regard, scientists carefully read the data of 172,321 people whose average age was 50 years and 54% of them were women. The survey ran from 2013 to 2018 and asked participants questions specifically about sleep. Experts calculated the level of sleep on a scale of 0 to 5, with zero or one for the worst sleep and 5 for the best sleep.

Then, after an average of 4.3 years, 8,680 people died, of which 30 percent died from heart disease, 24 percent from cancer, and 46 percent from other causes. It found that people who slept deeply, restfully, and richly had a 30 percent lower risk of premature death from any cause, a 21 percent lower risk of dying from heart disease, and a 19 percent lower risk of dying from cancer. While the risk of dying from other causes was also less by 40%.

Experts have also noted that people who had poor sleep had a higher mortality rate. This is why they have emphasized deep and complete sleep for a happy and long life.
