Vienna: In the condemnation resolution passed by a majority vote in the United Nations General Assembly, Russia has been asked to immediately withdraw its troops from Ukraine and to establish a ceasefire.

According to the World News Agency, 141 countries supported the condemnation resolution against Russia in the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, while 7 countries opposed it.

The countries that opposed the condemnation resolution were Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea, Mali, Nicaragua and Syria, while 32 countries including China, South Africa, Pakistan, India and Iran did not participate in the resolution.

The resolution reaffirmed support for Ukraine’s ‘autonomy’ and ‘territorial integrity’, rejecting Russia’s claim to annex four large Ukrainian regions into its state through a disputed referendum.

The UN resolution also called for Russia to immediately and completely and unconditionally withdraw all troops from Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.

It should be noted that Ukraine claims Crimea and other 4 regions as its own, but this claim of Russia has never been recognized at the international level.

It should be remembered that the condemnation resolution of the United Nations General Assembly does not legally oblige Russia to follow it, but such agreements have political significance.
