Pakistan has refused to participate in the Shanghai Corporation Organization (SCO), an annual international film festival held in India.
According to foreign media reports, due to ongoing tension between the two countries, Pakistan has decided not to participate in the Shanghai Corporation Organization Film Festival, which is being held in India from January 27 to 31.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a statement saying that in view of the tension between the two countries, it has been decided that Pakistan will not participate in the SCO Film Festival held in India.
Following the announcement by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistani filmmakers and fans who see the festival as an opportunity to highlight their nation’s rich cultural heritage are disappointed with the decision.
It should be noted that since 2001, the Shanghai Corporation Organization Film Festival has been held annually under the regional security alliance, in which China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan participate.
It may be recalled that in 2018, the said film festival was held in Jain, in which Humayun Saeed was awarded for the Pakistani film ‘Punjab Nahi Jaon Gi’.
