Islamabad: Senator Irfan Siddiqui of the ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-N was elected unopposed as the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs.
For the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Irfan Siddiqui was the joint candidate of the government coalition, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) parliamentary leader Senator Sherry Rehman and Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUIF) parliamentary leader Maulana Attaur Rehman. suggested the name of the chairman.
PPP Senator Mehmoodul Hasan and Muslim League (N) Senator Dr. Afnanullah Khan signed the nomination papers as endorsers and 6 members were present in the meeting, including Sheri Rehman, Rana Mahmoodul Hasan, Rubina Qaim Khani from PP. Afnanullah Khan of Muslim League-N while Ali Zafar and Liaquat Khan Turkai of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) did not participate in the voting.
PTI Senator Ali Zafar and Liaquat Khan congratulated the newly elected Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Ali Zafar said that if our political issue was not going on, I myself would have suggested the name of Senator Irfan Siddiqui as the chairman, Irfan Siddiqui is the best choice for this committee.
