The Sindh High Court canceled the notification to close the roads of Burns Road for Karachi’s food street.
The court accepted the request of the residents of Burns Road and ordered the administration to open the roads of Burns Road in two days.
The Sindh High Court remarked that the fundamental rights of citizens cannot be abrogated for food street.
The Supreme Court also ordered immediate removal of all encroachments from roads and footpaths.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that due to the closure of the roads even the ambulance does not get a way, the people of the area face severe problems in the evening hours.
The lawyer said that the closure of Burns Road affects the traffic from Liaquatabad, Malir to Tower.
The Sindh High Court directed that Burns Road and surrounding roads should not be closed during the evening hours.
