On a tip-off, trawlers loaded with cement, crushed stone were searched at Hamdard check post and the blister was found hidden under the crushed stone and between the cement bags.
8,000 kg of smuggled chalia was being brought to Karachi by trawlers from Balochistan. The value of the smuggled bark is Rs 2.5 crore.
Customs registered a case and seized both the trawler and the chala and shifted the goods to ASO warehouse.
