Quetta: The security forces took action and ended the dharna of the lumberjacks on the Chaman highway.
According to the district administration, the traffic has been restored after removing the illegal road block on the Chaman highway. In order to maintain law and order, the Levies Force took action against the miscreants.
For the past one month, the entire district was held hostage by the Lughari alliance. Banks, passport offices and press clubs were closed and the atmosphere in the city was tense.
Spokesperson of Balochistan Government says that on the direction of Chief Minister Balochistan, Ministers and Speaker visited Chaman along with top officials. The Balochistan government has repeatedly tried to resolve the issue through negotiations. During the months-long protests, the law and the writ of the state have been challenged several times. The protestors, not showing seriousness in the negotiations, maintained the deadlock.
According to the DC, last night the district administration held talks with the Perlat Committee to maintain law and order in Chaman city. During the negotiations at the DC office, the mobs tried to attack Deputy Commissioner Chaman Raja Athar Abbas. Levies officials took timely action and immediately arrested the anarchists.
Yesterday, during the polio campaign in Chaman, miscreants attacked and tortured 2 Levies officials and 2 women polio workers.
