Peshawar: The Election Commission has decided not to contest the cases of the Returning Officers (ROs) against the alleged rigging in the February 8 elections.
Election Tribunal Peshawar High Court heard the petition against the election results in Karam District. The Election Commission informed the court about the failure of the ROs to fight the cases against the alleged rigging of the February 8 elections.
The Election Commission counsel took a stand that the Election Commission has clear instructions not to become part of any dispute. We can only provide support to the court. Araoz will fight his own case.
Justice Waqar Ahmed questioned the counsel of the Election Commission that R. Okia was not an officer of the Election Commission. You must give the court in writing that the RO is not an officer of the Election Commission. The petitioner’s counsel replied that there were no complaints against the Election Commission, only complaints against the ROs and DROs.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case after asking for a reply in 7 days
