The largest ship in the country’s history docked at Karachi Port, the container ship MSC ANNA has docked at Deep Water Terminal South Asia Pakistan.

According to Express News, the anchored foreign ship MSC ANNA has a length of 400 meters and a capacity of 19,368 TEUs. Earlier, the largest ship anchored in Pakistan on May 19, 2020, Hong Kong Express was 366.50 meters long and had a capacity of 14,000 TEUs.

A special ceremony to welcome the ship will be held at Karachi Port on Thursday, which will be attended by port authorities and senior government officials.

According to spokesperson KPT, the 400 meter long ship “MSC Ana” has anchored at Karachi Port’s private terminal SAPT. On arrival at the port, the KPT pilot under the leadership of KPT General Manager Operations Rear Admiral Rizwan Ahmad berthed the ship at the SAPT terminal.

This ship has reached Karachi port with 19 thousand containers. After the regulatory process, the process of unloading the containers from the ship will begin.

In his comments on the occasion of this important milestone, Head of Business Unit Hutchison Ports Pakistan C. S. Kim said that handling the largest container ship in the history of Pakistan is a matter of pride for Hutchison Ports Pakistan and Pakistan’s mine. Time represents our commitment to the growth of the industry.

“We are handling big ships regularly,” said CS Kim. Earlier a 366m long vessel with 14000 TEUs was handled and now CV MSC ANNA is handled with a capacity of 19000 TEUs and a length of 400m. In the future we will continue to demonstrate our ability to efficiently handle large vessels.
It should be noted that the arrival of these larger vessels will help reduce shipping costs. Handling of such large ships will also significantly increase government revenue by increasing port activity and trade. The increase in the traffic of large ships underlines the importance of the terminal in the economic development of the country while enhancing Pakistan’s position in global trade.
