Islam / Fort Abdullah: The health department has confirmed that the third polio case of this year has been reported from Qila Abdullah, while the presence of the virus has also been confirmed in the sewage water of Hyderabad Chaman and Pashteen.
According to the spokesperson of the health department, the girl, a resident of Qila Abdullah district of Balochistan, showed signs of disability on April 20, after which she is moving towards Abahaji very fast.
Spokesperson Mokhmah Sahat said that the research regarding the genetics of the virus found in the samples obtained from the girl is still ongoing.
Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health, Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmad Bharat expressed his deep regret on the report of another polio case and said that polio is a contagious disease that affects not only the child but the entire family. He appealed to the parents that every time the polio workers come to your doorstep, they must give their children under 5 years of age polio drops.
On the other hand, the National Polio Laboratory has confirmed the presence of polio virus in the sewage water of three cities. According to sources, polio virus has been found in the sewage of Hyderabad, Chaman, Pishin, samples from the said areas were taken on May 6 and 7.
Sources say that Wild Polio Virus 1YB3A was confirmed in the sewage lines, the sewage of Qadir Pumping Station in Hyderabad area came polio positive, after which 7 sewage samples of Hyderabad have become polio positive this year.
The sewage of Hadi Pakt Environmental Site of Chaman area has come polio positive, polio virus has been found in ten sewage samples of Chaman this year. Polio virus has been confirmed in four samples taken so far this year.
Sources say that the number of polio-positive sewage samples in 2024 has reached 140, while the sewage of 38 districts has been contaminated with polio virus this year. On the contrary, last year, 126 sewage samples from 28 districts were found to be polio positive.
