The Sindh High Court has ordered the Ministry of Defense to receive reports from all agencies and submit them at the next hearing on the petitions related to the recovery of the citizens missing since 2018 from different areas of Karachi.

In front of a two-member bench headed by Justice Nimatullah Phalphoto, the petitions related to the recovery of missing citizens from different areas of Karachi since 2018 were heard. The investigation officer said that 23 JIT meetings have been held to recover Syed Naveed, a missing citizen from the South area, but the category could not be determined.

The court expressed its displeasure at the non-recovery of the citizen and remarked that even after 23 JITs, the category could not be determined, the family members of the citizen were disappointed with the traditional reports submitted by the police.

The family of Abdullah, a missing citizen from Manghopir, also appeared in the court. The family said that Abdullah has been missing since 2018, since few days we have been receiving phone calls and demanding a ransom of 7 lakhs. We provided the number to the police, but no action has been taken by the police so far.

The court expressed indignation at the performance of the police officials and remarked that whether this number was investigated? Since 2018, the family members of the citizen have been going round the courts and police stations, you have some idea of ​​the pain they are facing.

The investigating officer said that the location of the number given to us is Dera Ghazi Khan but the number is closed. The court remarked that the family members of the citizen submitted CDR reports that they were receiving calls from this number and you are saying that the number is closed.

The court ordered to continue the operation for the recovery of Syed Naveed Ali, Idris from Risala area, Abdallah from Mangho Peer and other citizens.

The court has also ordered the Ministry of Defense to obtain reports from all agencies and submit them during the next hearing. The court directed to get the travel agency’s report from FIA regarding the missing citizens. The court adjourned the hearing till August 21, summoning the DIG investigation in Shahri Abdullah’s case with progress reports.
