Islamabad: Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa has said that universities are the future of Pakistan, the country is being systematically destroyed.
The case related to the appointment of permanent vice-chancellors in government universities across the country was heard by a 3-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, in which higher education from universities across the country. A related report was submitted.
The report submitted to the Supreme Court stated that there are a total of 154 public universities in Pakistan. In 66 universities, additional charge of Vice-Chancellor has been given or the posts are vacant. Of the 29 universities in the federal capital, 24 have permanent vice-chancellors while 5 are vacant.
Out of the 10 universities of Balochistan, 5 have appointed Vice Chancellors while 5 have Acting VCs. Of the 32 government universities in Pakhtunkhwa, 10 have permanent VCs, 16 have additional charge and 6 are vacant. Similarly, out of 49 public universities of Punjab, 20 have permanent and 29 acting VCs, while out of 29 government universities of Sindh, 24 have permanent VCs and 5 have additional charge.
The Chief Justice remarked during the hearing that the officers sitting in the education department are killing flies. Universities are the future of Pakistan. The future of Pakistan is being systematically destroyed. Everything is slowly falling apart in this country.
The Chief Justice said that the anger of political opponents can be seen sitting in the TV channels, but there are no programs on the issue of education in the TV channels. If any columnist statistics are released, Pakistan will come in first position. Some people are destroying schools and saying we are serving Islam. Governments then negotiate with such people who destroy schools. Just as there was destruction in PIA, in the same way, destruction is happening in universities.
