Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and other law enforcement agencies were injured during the attack with light machine guns and rocket launchers by ambushed armed men during the ongoing operation against poppy cultivation in Balochistan.
An ANF spokesperson said that the anti-narcotics force, Govt of Balochistan and Frontier Corps North are carrying out poppy eradication operation in Balochistan and during this operation the security forces faced resistance.
He said that on March 25, the campaign was launched in Loralai, Dikki, Quetta, Chaman and Qila Abdullah. On May 6, ANF and other security forces faced a mob about 5 km from Gulistan.
He said that the armed tribesmen ambushed the forces with machine guns and rocket launchers and as a result of the attack, 6 security forces personnel were seriously injured.
According to ANF spokesperson, cultivation of poppy is an offense under the Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) Act 1997.
He said that the ANF and other forces are committed to maintaining law and order and preventing drug trafficking.
