As long as Asif Zardari is the President of the country, the criminal proceedings of the cases cannot continue, the Accountability Court
Islamabad: The Accountability Court of Islamabad stopped the proceedings against Asif Zardari in the reference of Park Lane and Tosha Khana vehicles.
President Asif Ali Zardari got presidential immunity. Accountability Court judge Nasir Javed Rana issued a written decision on President Asif Zardari’s requests for presidential immunity in NAB cases.
While stopping the proceedings against President Asif Ali Zardari, the court wrote in its written decision that as long as Asif Ali Zardari is the President of the country, the proceedings against him cannot proceed.
On behalf of Asif Ali Zardari, an application was filed under Article 248 (2) of the Constitution, in which it was decided that the criminal proceedings of the cases cannot continue as long as Asif Zardari is the President of the country. No objection was raised or opposed.
The Accountability Court declared that under Article 248 (2) of the Constitution, there can be a case against the President of the country and no action can be continued, therefore the requests to obtain presidential immunity from the cases of President Asif Ali Zardari are approved.
