Karachi: In the case of commercial activities in police stations in the name of police welfare, it has been revealed that petrol pumps, shops, godowns, flats and offices have been constructed on the land given to the police, the report of which has been submitted to the Sindh High Court.

According to the report, one petrol pump and 6 shops have been constructed in Kemari district. There are 304 shops, 66 flats, 8 warehouses and 62 offices under construction in Karachi city. 70 shops in central district, one petrol pump in Malir is set up on police land.

Similarly, Hyderabad has one petrol pump, 247 shops, 271 flats, 29 grams and 100 offices. There are 51 shops in Dadu, 4 shops in Badin, 57 shops in Mirpur Khas.

169 shops were established in Nawabshah, 117 in Sukkur, 121 in Khairpur. Ghotki 70 Larkana 62 Kashmore 27, Jacobabad 92 shops were established. On the land given to Sindh Police, 4 petrol pumps and 1397 shops have been built across the province.

The report further states that 338 flats, 37 godowns and 162 offices were constructed. Commercial activities continued at a total of 32 locations across the province.

6.4 million has been collected as rent from 70 shops in District Central Karachi. In the central district the proceeds were used for the immediate relief of the police authorities, including the expenses of burial etc.

70 shops were constructed in 1987 on the land of North Nazimabad Police Station. The shopkeepers were asked to vacate the shops following the Supreme Court orders. The shopkeepers had approached the Supreme Court against the notices. The Supreme Court had sent the matter to the Sindh High Court. The Supreme Court had ordered the Sindh High Court to examine the matter after hearing all the parties.
