Karachi: A gas cylinder allegedly exploded in a generator market shop in front of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce on Newchali Shariah, the sound of which was heard far and wide.

According to the details, a fire broke out in the shop after the gas cylinder explosion, which intensified as soon as we saw it. The roof also collapsed.

Immediately after the explosion, a large number of citizens and shopkeepers gathered at the spot and started the relief operations under their help. On receiving the report of the explosion, police, rangers, fire brigade, rescue 1122 and volunteers of welfare organizations reached the spot and 4 people buried under the debris of the affected shop were immediately taken out and shifted to the civil hospital for medical assistance, while the fire brigade Crews and Rescue 1122 team started trying to control the fire in the shop after the blast.

During rescue operations, one body and one injured person were removed from the debris of the shop affected by the explosion and transferred to the civil hospital. Is.

The person who died in the alleged gas cylinder blast was identified as 42-year-old Zulfiqar Ahmed son of Muhammad Yusuf, the deceased was a resident of Orangi Town. Among the injured are 50-year-old Nazir son of Ghulam Hussain, 35-year-old Isa son of Maqsood Baloch, 23-year-old Aftab son of Muhammad Saleem, 25-year-old Asad son of Abdul Waheed, 45-year-old Rafiq son of Yaqub and 35-year-old Adnan son of Muhammad Sarwar among others.

The citizens and shopkeepers present on the spot have alleged that the fire brigade staff arrived late, after which the fire in the shop was brought under control.

According to the fire brigade officials, the report of the fire in the shop after the alleged cylinder explosion was received by the Education Department of Bolton Market at 11 o’clock, on which the fire brigade staff was immediately dispatched, followed by the Chamber of Commerce. 9 fire tenders, 2 bowsers and a snorkel were involved in the fire in the shop and rescue operations were received on which more fire tenders were dispatched.

Director General Rescue 1122 Sindh Dr. Abid Shaikh told Express News that the teams of Rescue 1122 reached the spot and they were told that there was a cylinder explosion in the generator shop. After the explosion, a fire broke out in the shop immediately, which was extinguished by the Rescue 1122 team on the spot.

He said that the rescue operation is going on and the final information can be given only after the operation is completed.
