The woman who hit the motorway police officer sent to jail on judicial remand

Rawalpindi: The woman who ran over the highway police officer with her car and ran away was sent to jail on judicial remand by the court.

The woman Farah, who ran away after hitting the Motorway Police officer, was presented by the police in the court of Civil Judge Dr. Mumtaz Hanjara, where the police requested a 5-day physical remand of the arrested accused Farah.

The court was told that the incident of speeding on the highway was on January 1. Lawyer Safai stated that the police was asleep for 113 days. The police woke up when the video went viral on social media after 112 days. No one was injured, the woman cannot be physically remanded constitutionally. This case is a case of discharge, the request for physical remand should be dismissed.

The court remarked during the hearing that the investigating officer can interrogate the accused in the presence of the female staff and the jail officer. The court inquired from the investigating officer as to how Section 324 of murder was applied, to which the investigating officer replied that the accused deliberately rammed the vehicle on the officer with the intent to kill. It is a heinous crime, the move amounts to murder. Vehicle documents are to be recovered from the accused, voice test is to be conducted.

Later, the court rejected the request of the police for physical remand and sent the arrested accused Farah to Adiala Jail on 14 days judicial remand. On the occasion of appearance, the accused Farah was brought to the court in a heavy presence of police.

It should be noted that the accused Farah escaped by hitting the Motorway police officer with the car and the woman was arrested after 3 and a half months after the video went viral on social media. A case was registered against the accused in Naseerabad police station on January 2, 2024, on the request of Patrolling Officer Mohammad Saber under the provisions of interference in government car, resistance, hitting and injuring government officials.
