Kohlo: In Balochistan Assembly Constituency PB-9 Kohlu, re-polling could not be held in 4 polling stations due to the precarious security situation where a landmine planted on the way of the election staff exploded, resulting in minor injuries to two persons.
According to Express News, Nawabzada Jungiz Murri of Pakistan Muslim League (N) was declared successful in the general elections in PB-9 Kohlu on February 8, while Naseebullah Murri of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) challenged the result.
The Election Commission of Pakistan had ordered re-polling in 4 polling stations of Nassau on the request of Naseebullah Marri.
According to the local administration, one landmine planted in the path of the Election Commission staff exploded while the other was defused.
The administration said that out of 6 rockets fired in Nassau and other areas today, three fell in the premises of the polling stations. Due to similar attacks, a PPP supporter was also killed yesterday.
He said that unknown armed persons had started a series of rocket attacks on the polling stations since the previous day, on which the presiding officers wrote that they could not conduct the election in this situation.
PPP candidate Naseebullah Marri said that the polling staff went back to Kohlu via Barkhan after waiting till 4 o’clock. The polling staff could not go further after entering Kohlu from Barkhan.
The district administration said that re-polling could not be done at 4 polling stations in Nassau of PB9 Kohlu due to the disturbed law and order situation where re-polling was ordered by the Election Commission.
