The growing trend of ice in educational institutions is alarming, says Sharjeel Memon

Karachi: Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Memon has said that the growing trend of ice and other drugs in educational institutions is worrisome.

Sharjeel Memon while presiding over a high level meeting in Hyderabad regarding drug prevention said that we have to take all possible measures to suppress drugs to keep our young generation away from the scourge of drugs.

He directed Secretary Excise and DIG Hyderabad Tariq Dharijo to take joint action against drug peddlers and also inform Secretary Information Sindh about these actions so that drug peddlers can be discouraged by publicizing them in the media.

He directed the information secretary to publish an anti-narcotics advertisement in a few days, which also includes a helpline number for reporting drug trafficking.

He urged the police officers to thoroughly investigate those arrested for drug offenses to not only help arrest major drug traffickers but also break the drug supply chain.

He stressed on the concerned officers that they should see improvement in the situation in a few days because it is a question of the future of our children.

He directed the Secretary Excise to form a task force consisting of officers of good repute to take effective action against drug peddlers.

The provincial minister directed the concerned officers to create a WhatsApp group to share their daily performance and information. In the meeting, DIG Hyderabad Tariq Dharijo also informed the meeting about the actions against drug dealers.
