Karachi: During a fire in a cardboard warehouse on an open plot in Nazimabad, cartons worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed, four firefighters reached the spot and brought the fire under control.
According to Express, a fire suddenly broke out in a cardboard warehouse located on an open plot in Nazimabad No. 3 on the first day of Eid, which intensified as soon as we saw it. The fire brigade and Rescue 1122 brought the fire under control after an hour of joint effort. During the fire, the cartons worth lakhs of rupees in the warehouse were gutted, but there was no loss of life.
Fire Officer Humayun Khan told Express that the fire brigade received the information about the fire in the godown at 11:35 am and the fire brigade personnel started the cooling process after trying for an hour to control the fire.
As the open plot was being used as a cardboard warehouse, fire brigade personnel reached the spot in time and stopped the fire from spreading to the residential apartments, he said.
He said that during the fire, the empty cardboard cartons of medicines worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed and the cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained.
The watchman of the warehouse said that when the fire broke out in the warehouse, he was sleeping in the warehouse and woke up from his sleep due to the noise and throwing of stones by the residents of the area.
The watchman said that property worth Rs 40 to 45 lakhs was destroyed in the fire, a drain is running from the back of the warehouse and last 4 days they had also caught drug addicts. It is suspected that the fire was caused by drug addicts. The fire started from the side of the barn wall.
