Karachi: The Intelligence Wing of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted an operation near the KMC Sports Camp Complex and arrested a serving officer of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police involved in arms smuggling and recovered weapons from his possession.
In-charge CTD Karachi Raja Umar Khattab said that the CTD Intelligence Wing foiled the attempt to smuggle weapons in school bags and during the operation, serving constable Azharuddin of KP Police was arrested and taken to the school near him. Weapons were recovered from the bag.
According to Raja Umar Khattab’s claim, the arrested accused belongs to an inter-provincial arms smuggling group and the group supplies arms online in Pakistan including Karachi.
He said that the arrested accused works for Daniyal, the clerk of KP bus base, Daniyal is the main operative of arms dealers Qadir, Saddam and Nadeem & Sons, KPK police card was recovered from the possession of the arrested accused Azharuddin. Yes, the arrested accused has already supplied arms in Karachi.
Incharge CTD said that Arms Trafficking and Monitoring Desk was created by IG Sindh and the special desk of CTD is doing full monitoring, three arms dealers in KPK have sent heavy weapons to Karachi so far.
He said that CTD has already arrested two suspects of the said group, most of the retired or dismissed FC personnel are involved in arms smuggling, citizens book orders online and delivery is done by Daniel Munshi. Daniyal pays the travel fare and compensation per pistol, the accused come to Karachi and hand over the arms to the party and return.
Raja Umar Khattab said that the arrested accused has been transferred to CTD and further investigation is going on.
