Rs 7 lakh fine on transporters charging extra fare in Sindh

Karachi: The Department of Transport and Mass Transit Department Sindh has continued the campaign against the collection of additional fares on the instructions of Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.

During the campaign, 1012 vehicles were checked and an additional amount of Rs. 22 lakh 85 thousand taken from the passengers was returned to the passengers on the spot. Fines of 732,000 were imposed on transporters charging extra fare.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that providing relief to passengers and ensuring fair fare collection is the top priority of the government. Strict action will be taken against those who do it.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that those who do injustice to passengers will not be forgiven, transporters should maintain ethical standards and give priority to comfortable and safe journey of passengers.

It should be noted that the officers of the Road Transport Authority are carrying out operations with the cooperation of the Traffic Police, District Police and Motorway Police. Secretary PTA, RTA, and DRTA along with other field officers checked inter-city and inter-provincial passenger vehicles.
