Karachi: The season of green turtles in Hawke’s Bay is over and this year Sindh Wildlife sent 14 thousand 960 hatchlings on a new journey of life and 16 female turtles headed to the coastal areas of Karachi. Tags were also applied.

Chief Conservator Javed Maher said that the breeding season of sea turtles at Hawke’s Bay in Karachi is from September to February every year. It was 530.

Out of these turtles, 270 green turtles took the journey back to the sea after the walk, 260 female turtles chose a place to lay their eggs and dug a hole to lay their eggs.

As soon as they hatch from the eggs, the babies head to the sea and this is where the dangerous journey begins, the flying birds of prey and then the dangerous world of the sea, in which many lives are lost and few survive. These turtles have been unable to defend their breeding sites on the shores of Sandspit, Hawke’s Bay for centuries and it is feared that future generations may find their mention in books.
