IG Sindh's order to immediately restore the anti-narcotics task force

Karachi: IG Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon issued orders while presiding over the first meeting and video link conference at the Central Police Office as soon as he took charge of his post.

All Additional IGs, DIGs, SSPs and other senior officers on duty at the provincial level participated in the meeting through video link.

In the meeting, the current law and order situation in Sindh, police security plans including anti-crime, police strategy and plan of action against organized crime and other serious crimes were considered and necessary instructions were given to strengthen the investigation department.

IG Sindh issued orders to immediately restore the Task Force against Gatka, Mawa and Narcotics and said that if the intelligence report given by the Special Branch against such crimes is proved to be false, then Intelligence Reports (IRs) should be given. The person will be immediately dismissed from the job, while strict departmental action will be taken against the relevant SSP and SHO if there are active gangs, organized crime, drug dens in the areas and if they are not reported. He said that there is no room for black sheep in the police department, all the SSPs will ensure their presence in their respective government offices from 10 am to 2 pm and during this time only scheduled meetings should be held with the general public. Rather, their complaints should be resolved in a timely manner.

He said that the process of free registration of FIRs should be made active and people-friendly in the real sense, otherwise the area SHOs and others will have to face departmental actions.

IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon gave instructions to the SSPs that show cause notices should not be given to the SHOs of the area for petty crimes, like the announcement of the appointments of the SHOs and the appointments of additional SHOs. Proclamations should also be issued with the purpose of determining the responsibilities of the Area Supervisory in the absence of SHOs.

He said that women police officers should also be assigned important responsibilities at the departmental level so that the involved elements can be brought to book, including the prevention of crimes against women and children. IG Sindh said that talented and educated police officers should be appointed as police station duty officers and they should be given regular authority and authority to register complaints, resolve people’s problems and difficulties.

Regarding the investigation department, IG Sindh said that one-step promotion will be given to the expert, experienced and talented officers in the investigation department, but it has nothing to do with seniority, the progress of every investigator officer will be checked. Rather, their appointments will be made keeping in mind full data and performance.

On the report that out of 171 traffic light signals in the city, only 54 traffic signals are correct, IG Sindh said that a draft containing comprehensive recommendations should be sent to the Sindh government for approval so that traffic light signals can be repaired and restored. The responsibilities of the Engineering Bureau can be regularly assigned to the Traffic Police Department.

He said that with these guiding steps, including timely repair of traffic light signals, the flow of traffic on the roads can be maintained, he said that steps should be taken to install cameras on traffic light signals and deploy armed police personnel. In order to ensure the prevention of violations of traffic rules, measures like anti-crimes can also be ensured.

The IG Sindh further said that a part of the money received from tickets challan fines should also be kept for maintenance and repair of these cameras, prevention of over speeding and dangerous driving including the use of helmets by motorcyclists. IG Sindh warned the traffic police and said that the traffic police officers and jawans present in gangs on the roads, highways and other places should be eliminated immediately otherwise strict disciplinary action will be ensured.
