A retired police officer was strangled to death by his sons in Karachi

The body was set on fire to give the incident a suicide note

After his sons strangled the retired police officer who died of burns in Soldier Bazar on Saturday, the body was set on fire to make the incident look like suicide.

The police arrested the two sons after the post-mortem of the deceased proved murder and registered a case under the provisions of murder in the official complaint.

A charred body of a person was found in a house in Soldier Bazar No.1 Gul Rana Colony on Saturday.

SHO Soldier Bazar Asad Elahi had initially said that the person who died of burns was a retired police officer and had retired while on duty at Soldier Bazar police station.

After separating from his wife, the deceased was living alone on the first floor of the house while his married son was living downstairs in the same house.

Deceased has 2 sons including a policeman and lives with his mother. Deceased had a small retail shop which he ran and preliminary investigation suspected that the deceased committed self-immolation while the door of the house was also opened. It was locked from inside, but the crime scene unit reached the spot and collected the evidence and found that it was a murder incident.

The deceased’s police officer son Imran wanted his father’s post-mortem not to be conducted, but SP Liaquatabad Division Alina Rajpar did not agree to this and conducted the post-mortem, according to reports, the deceased police officer Salim Ansari was strangled. In the light of the autopsy report and the medical examination, a case was registered against the sons of the deceased under Section 302/34 of the Criminal Code No. 122/2024.

SHO Soldier Bazar Asad Elahi told Express that Imran, the son of the deceased retired policeman and a serving policeman, along with his brother strangled his father and played a major role in stopping the post-mortem of his father. Attempts were made to paint the incident as a suicide, but the post-mortem process proved it to be a murder. The two sons of the deceased were arrested by the Soldier Bazar police and a case was registered.
