Supreme Court;  Judgment in 110-year-old property case

Islamabad: The Supreme Court has pronounced a verdict in a 110-year-old property case.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa heard, Hafiz Alam Sher bought 9 kanals of land from Ghulam Rasool in a village of Gujranwala on December 16, 1914, which included three kanals of ten marla land on which the litigation was pending. On July 11, 1941, the civil judge ruled that the annexed land could not be acquired.

The Supreme Court declared that the decision given by the Civil Judge on July 11, 1941 was final, after remaining silent for several decades, the Member Board of Revenue was approached to conduct the case again. The Chief Justice said that why did he remember to file the case again after 50 years, the decision given in 1941 was never annulled, trust should not be betrayed.

The court dismissed the appeal after hearing the lawyers of the parties. It should be noted that this case was under hearing in the Supreme Court for eleven years. The same bench accepted the bail application of accused Hanif Khan, who was arrested in Swat on the charge of killing his stepfather over a transaction dispute.

On the other hand, an application was filed in the Supreme Court for early hearing on military courts intra-court appeals. The court has been requested to schedule the intra-court appeals for hearing next week.
