Islamabad / Peshawar: The Shawar High Court has issued orders to freeze the salary of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Malik Amjad Zubair Towana for not submitting the reply to repeated reminders in the pending tax case.
The Additional Registrar of Peshawar High Court has issued instructions to the Accountant General, Government of Pakistan to implement the order issued by the Peshawar High Court regarding freezing the salary of Chairman FBR and the Accountant General of Pakistan shall implement the order of the Peshawar High Court. Chairman FBR has stopped the salary of Malik Amjad Zubair Towana.
The FBR officials have confirmed that the salary of Chairman FBR has been withheld based on the decision of the Peshawar High Court, however, Special Assistant to Chairman FBR Dr. Naveed and Member Legal Asim Majeed were also contacted to know their position on this matter. Could not be contacted.
In the court order, it has been said that till the submission of para-wise comments and reply by the chairman FBR, his salary will remain frozen and the copy of the decision has been sent by the additional registrar to the concerned departments to implement the order of Peshawar High Court. .
Sources say that the relevant departments have implemented the decision of the Peshawar High Court and informed about this. Tax lawyer Waheed Shehzad Butt, when contacted, told Express that the case filed in writ petition number 1318-M of 2023 Muzaffar Khan vs Government of Pakistan etc. The response and comments from the Federal Board of Revenue are pending and Chairman FBR Malik Amjad Zubair Towana is also a party in this case. A letter was written on 2023, after which reminders were sent on 26th December 2023, 16th January 2024 and 14th February 2024, but despite this, the comments were not submitted. done
Sources say that following the order of the Peshawar High Court, the Accountant General of Pakistan has not released the February salary to Chairman F. Biyad and has also informed the Peshawar High Court about the compliance of the order.
