6-year-old Abyan slipped and fell into a deep manhole and went missing
Karachi: After 10 months, the case of a 6-year-old child falling into an open manhole in Gulshan Iqbal was registered in Aziz Bhatti police station in the complaint of the father.
The case was registered under the section for culpable homicide, which names the management of the Water and Sewerage Board and senior officials of the municipal corporation.
According to the details, after 10 months of the incident of 6-year-old Abyan son of Atifuddin falling into the open manhole while playing cricket behind Gulshan Iqbal Block 13D2 Rehman Square and in front of Aoun Heights, the father has been charged with murder in Aziz Bhatti police station. In which XCN Waqar of Water and Sewerage Board, Engineer Ejaz Zaidi, senior officials of Municipal Corporation have been nominated.
According to the text of the FIR, on May 6, 2023, 6-year-old Abyan was playing cricket with his elder brother 10-year-old Arabuddin and other friends of the neighborhood. While playing, the ball fell into the open manhole. Abyan went to fetch the ball and was standing near the manhole when his foot slipped and fell into the manhole.
Abyan’s brother raised a noise and told the family, whereupon the family and other residents rushed to the open manhole, but the flow of water in the manhole was very fast and deep. Edhi’s team arrived after half an hour of reporting, but no concerned administration came.
KMC and Water and Sewerage Board management failed even after delay. The road was excavated late at night but without success. Water Board XCN did not listen to us and dug up all the surrounding roads. Despite all efforts, no trace of Abyan could be found. The incident happened due to the negligence of the administration.
Police have started investigation after registering a case but no arrest has been made.
