It was decided in the general meeting held by the teachers’ association on Monday that the boycott of the teaching process is being postponed till March 6. If the demands and promises are not fulfilled within the given period, then the protest can be started again. According to an official of the teachers’ association, the meeting demanded the immediate dismissal of the non-permanent director of finance and the appointment of a permanent and qualified director of finance for non-payment of university teachers’ dues.

It should be noted that since last two weeks teaching boycott by the teachers was going on in University of Karachi, which was wasting the valuable time of the students while the students had also prepared to file a petition in the court on this matter.

Apart from this, it is also known that the teachers’ association gave incomplete information to the media in their press conference held 3 days ago and said that the Secretary Universities and Boards Mureed Rahimo had told them that the university has only selected professors and associate professors. The permission of the board has been sought, while the permission for the recruitment of assistant professors and lecturers has not been sought.

It is being told that the officials of the teachers’ association had the document which shows that the university administration had sought permission for recruitment to all the posts including the posts of stunt professor and lecturer, however the Secretary Universities and Boards sent it to the Sindh Chief Minister. The above mentioned 2 posts were not mentioned in the summary and in this regard the Chief Minister went to the house and gave a briefing that the university administration wants to make arbitrary appointments on these 2 posts, therefore these posts are not mentioned in the summary.

Apart from this, when “Express” asked the Secretary of the Teachers’ Association, Dr. Faizan Naqvi, why the wrong statement was made in front of the media, he said that we received the document in this regard after the press conference. When I came to know that President Anjuman had these documents, he said that President Anjuman did not share any document or information with me.

When asked by President Anjuman Dr. Saleh Rehman, he said that Secretary Universities and Boards Mureed Rahimo had told that the university registrar had sent a wrong format, when Dr. Saleh was asked that the recruitment of professors and associate professors was allowed on this wrong format. So given what he said is that Murid Rahimo does not clarify things, he dictates to the DF of the university, the whole mess is spread by the DF. When these matters are pointed out, they say that Allah will make it better. Dr. Saleh did not answer why he presented incomplete information to the media.
