Peshawar: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to assess the devastation caused by heavy rains and snowfall, where he directed to give Rs.
According to official media, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was received by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali at Peshawar Governor House Panche. Senator Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, Ata Tarar, Ameer Muqam, Murtaza Javed Abbasi and Chairman NDMA Lt. Gen. Inam Haider Malik also participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister was apprised of the damage and the ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures as a result of the recent stormy rains and snowfall.
Later, the Prime Minister presided over the meeting regarding the damage caused by the recent stormy rains and snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the ongoing rescue and rehabilitation measures. The meeting was attended by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali, Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, Ataullah Tarar, Amir Muqam, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Chairman NDMA Lt. Gen. Inam Haider Malik and relevant senior provincial officials.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister was also briefed on the initiatives of the provincial administration, PDMA, NDMA and National Highway Authority.
The meeting was told that as a result of the recent heavy rains and snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 40 people died while 62 people were injured, including 27 children, and 635 houses were completely and partially destroyed.
The meeting was told that on the special instructions of the Prime Minister, 20 lakhs will be given to the heirs of those who died in these stormy rains, 5 lakhs to the displaced persons, 7 lakhs to the residents of completely destroyed houses and 7 lakhs to the partially affected people. 3.5 lakh is being given to the residents of the houses.
The Prime Minister was informed that all major highways in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been partially restored, while work is in progress on the highways where snowfall and landslides are still ongoing.
The meeting was further informed that regarding the expected snowfall in the next two days, the district and provincial administration and NDMA are fully prepared to deal with any emergency situation.
The Prime Minister directed that all the organizations should participate in the rescue and rehabilitation measures of the victims of stormy rains and snowfall, no effort should be spared in helping and rehabilitating the victims. Take all possible measures for the rescue and rehabilitation of the victims in collaboration with the administration.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the relief funds should be provided to the residents of the affected houses in the next five days, the federal government will provide all kinds of support to the victims in this time of trouble.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister directed to give Rs. 20 lakh to the heirs of the deceased and Rs. Later he met the rain and snow victims and distributed checks to them.

The provincial government could not be represented due to the absence of the Chief Minister in the meeting presided over by the Prime Minister. The distance between the center and the province began to increase.
On the other hand, there are reports that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is busy preparing for the swearing-in of provincial ministers. The nominated provincial ministers will come to the Governor House today to take oath along with the Chief Minister.
