Islamabad: The Chief Minister of Punjab has said that the opposition is in a state of mourning at the moment, whose job is to spread chaos, if the opposition tries to disturb the peace or create difficulties for the people, then I will not tolerate it.
He said this while holding the first press conference in the Chief Minister’s House. Pervez Rashid, Maryam Aurangzeb, Uzma Bukhari, Chief Secretary and others were also present in the press conference with him.
He said that in my first speech after being elected as the Chief Minister on February 26, I had made some promises to the nation. We were going to make such a first attempt by making us queue up to distribute things inappropriately to ensure that people would not have to queue up for Ramadan packages.
He said that the Ramadan package was a work of months but the government machinery did a great job, all the departments of the Punjab government including the police, district administration, PITB, together made this program in a short period of time, 6 and a half million families and besides 3 crore people are getting their right at their doorstep, there were many difficulties in this program.
Maryam Nawaz said that we only had the data of BISP, the data of free flour distribution was available last year, currently we are running this program under the data of NADRA and BISP. Go and verify the data of poor families. Now we have enough such data. There may be some errors in this data, but in the coming 3 or 4 months, the original and complete data will be collected for the entire Punjab. So that the government can determine the relief for the real poor.
He said that so far 80,000 packages have been distributed among the beneficiaries under this pilot project. So far more than 5 lakh people have been given the package. Flour, ghee, rice, gram flour are included in this package which is 4 mills giving low quality have been closed down, government has never done home delivery but PITB has done a great job in distribution of this package, app has been created by digitizing the entire distribution. Police has also been deployed for the distribution of this package.
In response to the political questions of journalists, he said that the opposition is in a state of mourning at the moment, I know that they will criticize, but I will not stop work for fear of criticism. I will not tolerate those who damage public property if they try to or create difficulties for the public.
He said that I am not running the government on WhatsApp and I am working till one o’clock in the night and they are also working more than that. I will not tolerate incompetence, negligence, financial corruption.
He further said that the poor and deserving people belonging to our opposition party have equal rights. I have no competition with any opponent because they have not done any work. My competition is Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif’s services for the people. and I have experience in the case of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif.
