Islamabad: Chief Justice Supreme Court Qazi Faiz Isa has said that it is a shame for me to get a special exception in the law.
A 3-member bench of the Supreme Court heard the case against the banned weapons. The court summoned the Attorney General for the next hearing.
Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa said that my name was included in the category of having a prohibited arms license without permission. I wrote a letter on the matter which was not answered. It is a shame for me to get a special exception in the law. Maybe appoint a judicial assistant on this matter.
The Chief Justice further said that Kalashnikov is not a toy or a comb. The purpose of a public servant is to serve the people. If you go to schools, there are security guards standing there with weapons. There are no guards outside the schools of poor children. How do you know if a person carrying a weapon is a terrorist or not? See what happens in Islamabad tonight, hopefully the new government will come and take some steps on this issue.
Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa said in his remarks that no one thinks of the people. There are videos of gun shows on social media and there are also videos of big celebrities carrying guns. We don’t want to embarrass anyone by naming them. We have to secure the future of our children. The IG also travels with the police convoy. How long will the law continue to be joked with? When the bombs are exploding, the walls are raised.
Justice Musarat Hilali inquired whether members of parliament are also allowed to sit with weapons on the table. Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar said that weapons are displayed in marriage ceremonies.
