Karachi: An attempt to smuggle currency and gold worth more than one and a half crore rupees from the airport was foiled.
The airport security force personnel foiled the attempt of a passenger to smuggle 16 million rupees worth of currency and a huge amount of gold on a Bangkok-bound flight in a major operation at the Karachi airport.
According to ASF spokesperson, Imran Gul Awan, a passenger traveling on the Bangkok flight, had hidden 251 grams of gold and foreign currency including US dollars, Hong Kong dollars, Yuan and Rial in his bag.
The ASF personnel foiled the smuggling and money laundering attempt by recovering currency and gold during manual search on suspicion of goods.
The accused has been handed over to Pakistan Customs for further legal action along with recovered gold and currency after initial investigation.
