Excess of vitamin B3 is harmful for heart health

Cleveland: A recent increase in heart disease risk factors has been identified by medical experts as an excess of vitamin B3 in the body.

According to media reports, researchers at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute in the United States have stated in their research that an excess of a common B vitamin found in the body called niacin or vitamin B3 can lead to heart disease. .

The study’s lead author and director of the Center for Cardiovascular Diagnostics and Prevention, Dr. Stanley Hazen, said in the press release that finding a link between vitamin B3 and heart disease was not the original goal of the study.

“Our initial goal was to identify compounds in the blood that are separate from traditional risk factors for future heart attack, stroke or death, such as diabetes, cholesterol or blood pressure,” he said.

The doctor said that studies identified 4PY, a compound that was linked to future heart disease, and it was later discovered that 4PY causes an excess of niacin (vitamin B3) in the body.
