Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan termed the social media campaign against the judiciary and judges as a violation of freedom of expression.

In the statement issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, it has been said that organized campaign against the judiciary or judges is deplorable and also a violation of the right to freedom of expression in Article 19 of the Constitution.

The statement said that such a campaign could damage the main pillar of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, which the Constitution has entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the rights of the people.

It is stated in the declaration that organized campaign against the judiciary or judges in the name of criticism or in the guise of criticism without taking the constitutional path of revision is regrettable. The court has not stopped anyone from revising before nor will it stop now.
