Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan termed the social media campaign against the judiciary and judges as a violation of freedom of expression.
In the statement issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, it has been said that organized campaign against the judiciary or judges is deplorable and also a violation of the right to freedom of expression in Article 19 of the Constitution.
The statement said that such a campaign could damage the main pillar of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, which the Constitution has entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the rights of the people.
It is stated in the declaration that organized campaign against the judiciary or judges in the name of criticism or in the guise of criticism without taking the constitutional path of revision is regrettable. The court has not stopped anyone from revising before nor will it stop now.
It has been said in the announcement issued by the Supreme Court Registrar that if someone thinks that there has been a mistake in the interpretation of an Islamic principle or a constitutional and legal provision, it is the responsibility of the scholars to correct it through constitutional and legal means. are present, the verses of the Holy Quran are given in the same context in the decision.
According to the Supreme Court statement, it is a pity that in such cases, emotions get inflamed and Islamic injunctions are forgotten, giving the impression that the Supreme Court has asked for the abolition of the penal provisions of Pakistan regarding crimes against religion.
