Peshawar: The High Court ordered PTI leader and former Speaker Asad Qaiser’s name to be removed from the ECL.
On June 23, 2023, a hearing was held in the Peshawar High Court on the petition filed against the inclusion of former Speaker Asad Qaiser’s name in the ECL.
The petitioner’s counsel contended that Asad Qaiser, the former speaker of the National Assembly, was on his way to perform Umrah and was stopped, his name was put on the ECL on June 23. He was also elected member of the National Assembly in this election and is a senior politician.
The court declared the order to include Asad Qaiser’s name in the ECL as unconstitutional and illegal.
