Quetta/Chaman: The police conducted an operation against the protestors of the sit-in in Chaman on the condition of passports for travel and arrested several people including the sit-in spokesperson Sadiq Achakzai.

According to the caretaker information minister of Balochistan, protesters have been arrested for taking the law into their hands and blocking the passport office in Chaman, the police along with other law enforcement agencies arrested the accused.

John Achakzai says protesters have been allowed to protest peacefully for the past few months, but the police had to intervene after the passport office was blocked and riots erupted.

The Caretaker Information Minister made it clear that the requirement of a government document i.e. passport for travel is a state decision and no hindrance will be tolerated in the implementation of the passport requirement. Those who take the law into their hands will be dealt with severely.

The law enforcement agencies have shifted the arrested persons to FC Fort while the administration has announced a complete shutter down strike in the city by the Chaman Perlat Committee against the operation.

The participants of the sit-in closed the Korak Top while all the shops in the city are also closed. A heavy contingent of FC was alerted when the situation became tense.
