Polling could not be held at 6 polling stations of NA-43 on February 8 due to attacks by militants.
Unknown persons opened fire on a police armored vehicle outside the polling station in Tank area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but two assailants were killed in the retaliatory action of the police.
According to police sources, the polling process has been stopped after the incident. In many areas, the electricity supply has also been shut down for several hours due to which the election staff are facing severe difficulties.
Polling is being conducted today on February 19 after the decision of the Election Tribunal at 6 polling stations of NA 43. Mufti Asad Mehmood appealed for re-polling after declaring independent candidate Dawar Kundi as successful.
Polling could not be held at 6 polling stations of NA-43 in Kot-e-Azam and other areas on February 8 due to attacks by militants.
PTI-backed independent candidate Dawar Kundi was declared successful in the February 8 election. Engineer Dawar Kundi Khan is pitted against JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s son Mufti Asad Mehmood. In the election of February 8, Dawar Kandi got 63556 votes and Mufti Asad 62730 votes.
Davar Kundi won by a margin of 826 votes. Mufti Asad Mahmood appealed to the Election Tribunal for polling at non-polled polling stations.
