Order to publish photos of missing person on social media

The court restrained the police authorities from making unjustified transfers of investigating officers.

Karachi: The Sindh High Court has ordered the police authorities to publish the missing person’s photos on social media, preventing them from making unjustified exchanges of investigating officers on a petition related to the recovery of a Sindh police official who has been missing for 3 years.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Nimatullah Phalphoto heard a petition related to the recovery of a Sindh police official who had been missing for 3 years.

The petitioner’s counsel submitted that the investigation officer is being transferred again and again and there is no progress in the case.

Father said that my son Syed Khuram Shah was an employee of Sindh Police. He went missing from Safoora 3 years ago, so far no trace has been found. I have been going round the courts and police stations from Attock district for 3 years, so far no action has been taken.

The court inquired from the investigating officer that what are the reports related to the recovery of the citizen?

Investigating officer said that I have been transferred recently and investigation of the case is going on. Who took the citizen and why has not been found so far and there is no eyewitness. Letters have been written to the Additional IG, MI, Special Branch and other departments for the recovery of the citizen.

The court restrained the police authorities from unjustly exchanging the investigating officers and ordered them to publish the pictures of the missing persons on social media and conduct JITs and PTF sessions.

The court adjourned the hearing till March 19 while seeking a progress report from the investigating officer regarding the recovery of the citizen.
