Islamabad: The notification declaring Tariq Fazal Chaudhry successful from the federal capital was challenged in the Islamabad High Court.
PTI’s independent candidate from Islamabad, Shoaib Shaheen, challenged the Election Commission’s notification.
Election Commission’s notification of success of three candidates on February 11 has been challenged. DRO, RO, Election Commission and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry were made parties in the petition.
The petition requested that the notification of February 11 and the processing of Form 47 be set aside as illegal, and the Election Commission should be ordered to conduct the counting in the presence of the candidates in the context of Form 45.
It should be noted that in the February 8 general elections, PML-N’s Tariq Fazal Chaudhry defeated PTI-backed candidate Shoaib Shaheen.
