Göttingen: The EU’s top research group on climate change says the Earth’s average temperature has exceeded 1.5 degrees Celsius.
According to media reports, Europe’s Copernicus Climate Change Service used data from seven satellites to understand the characteristics of Earth’s climate.
Last month was the hottest month on record, the service found. Additionally, every month since June has had a higher temperature than all of its previous months.
Similarly, the analysis also found that considering the current climate of the earth, it can be said that this year will also prove to be another record-breaking year. The sea surface temperature charts released by the institute have seen a significant increase over the previous year.
The data shows that 2023 was the warmest year on record, possibly more than the last 100,000 years. In other observations made in January, the service also found that sea ice in the Arctic region is near average, but has declined significantly at the other end of the planet.
