Internet shut down in Makran over security concerns—Photo: File
Gwadar: Election Management System (EMS) Project Director Colonel Retired Saad has said that internet services have been stopped in Balochistan’s Makran district due to security concerns.
During a briefing to journalists in Islamabad, EMS Project Director Colonel Retired Saad said that if the Election Commission does not get the results on the first day, it will come on the second day, there is no big deal in it.
He said that NEPRA has assured that there will be no loadshedding on election day and presiding officers are being logged into EMS today, ROs, field officers are being monitored from the control room here.
Colonel (retd) Saad said that all 859 ROs are being monitored 24 hours a day, if the internet is down, there will be a problem in sending the results to the presiding officer, if the internet is down, there will be no problem for the returning officer.
He said that our target is that the Form 45 reaches the returning officers on time, the communication between the presiding officer and the returning officer will be through the internet and the RO will announce the results when they receive them.
He said that there may be a delay in getting the results from the offices of 10% returning officers, there are communication problems in Punjab, Inner Sindh and Balochistan, it is expected that 60 to 70% of the results will be received by EMS.
